Pastors Jen & Zech Houser answered the call to serve as our pastors beginning August 1, 2020.

Jen: Jen grew up in Perkasie, PA where she attended church with her grandparents in a nondenominational church. Throughout her childhood, she was involved in church groups, youth group, and the worship team at her church. She played basketball, field hockey, and ran track and field in middle and high school. She sang soprano in school choirs and played clarinet in school bands. Jen attended Messiah College in Harrisburg, PA where she majored in Youth ministry and minored in Human Development and Family Science. She was part of Messiah's gospel choir, United Voices of Praise, and their symphonic winds orchestra. She worked as a barista and a children's pastor during college as well. Jen met Zech at Messiah and they married shortly after college. Jen worked as a children's pastor, a retail associate, and a burrito slinger after graduating college. She attended Duke Divinity School and received her Master's of Divinity in May of 2020. In seminary, she completed several field education internships and did one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Duke University Hospital. During seminary, she joined the Church of the Brethren, where she feels called to pastoral ministry.

Zech: Zech grew up in the small town of Bellefonte, PA where he was raised as a United Methodist by his parents and older brother and sister. He was involved in leading worship at his church, while also attending youth group at a local Presbyterian church with his friends. He was involved in Marching Band, Concert Band, Model UN, and Indoor Drumline in High School. Zech attended Messiah College in Harrisburg, PA where he decided to major in Youth Ministry and minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. Zech volunteered at a local church's youth group as leader for three years while he was a student there, meeting Jen and getting married to her the September after graduating. The following year, he worked as an insurance agent in Mechanicsburg, before deciding with Jen to apply to seminary at Duke. He received his Master of Divinity in May 2020, while also gaining experience through Field Education and Clinical Pastoral Education at Duke University Hospital. While in North Carolina, he began attending Peace Covenant Church of the Brethren in Durham and discerned there a call to set-apart ministry in the COB.
